Now I probably shouldn't talk about NL weather to potential visitors. We definitely do not want to sway you in any way from traveling to this amazing province. There is a saying here in NL and that is ... 'If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes and it will change.' and I can certainly attest to that. It's the middle of June in this beautiful province but I just saw a puffin wearing earmuffs. Yep that's right it's a Puffin Muffin. It's so cold that the seals are still wearing their fur coats. But Summer is coming!
Having lived in Scotland for a few years back in the early nineties, I have personal rights to my next comment. I loved living there, just outside Glasgow in Kilmarnock. But I have to say, Newfoundland weather is not quite the same as what I experienced in the UK. We have sunshine. Mostly. and it never gets that kinda "cold in your bones, until you're shriveled up kinda cold", not here on the Avalon anyway. Harbour Grace we have a mini micro climate that is always a few degrees warmer than the rest of NL.
With that being said. If the weather wasn't what it is, would Newfoundlanders be such wonderful people? Hmmm that's a curious question. I think if it were all hot and balmy all the time, then everyone would want to move here and then we'd be all grouchy and stuff because there was too many people and you wouldn't want to visit because you could always stay on the mainland for that. Am I right?
If you need proof. Here is a picture of the water just over the road at Mad Rock hiking trail.
Enjoy your visit!
P.S If you are from Scotland and reading this, come visit! EP
