The Making of an Inn Keeper. Willie did NOT see his shadow!

Two days ago, on the annual Groundhog day, Feb 2nd. Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow and neither did Shubaduckie Sam (I may or may not have misspelled that). We are thrilled. Elated. Relieved. Excited. Life is so much better when you can sit, relax and enjoy time outside and not have to worry about the hairs in your nose freezing together. Actually, I must admit, here in NL we really can't complain about winter. We can complain about snow but not winter itself. It's kind of mild here. She (winter) can blow a fair gale and the folks up the shore will tell you about some wicked squalls, but here in Harbour Grace (God' Country) we are thankful for our relatively mild winters. Sure our harbour doesn't even freeze over. Unlike that crowd on Fogo Island (My hometown), whose harbour freezes right up and the pack ice would be enough to poison ya AND the wind could skin ya alive BUT that's what you get for living on a rock in the middle of the North Atlantic.

Here on the Avalon, we are lucky to live in a small bit of Heaven. The sun is always shining and there is hardly ever a cloud in the sky. Except when it's not. Like on the rare occasion when 'it's coming down in sideways sheets and blowing a gale', or when we has a bit of the stuff that's as 'tick as pea soup'. But that's nothing sure. We all has that once in awhile and it's mainly over in Bay Roberts or Carbonear, not hardly here is Harbour Grace atall.

Anyways I'm gettin on just like Bada (My Grandfather) here now and all I wanted to say was how happy I am to hear that spring was so close around the carner (corner). We, here at Rose Manor Inn, are preparing our summer greeting rituals in anticipation of your visit.

Some exciting things we have planned;

1.) Berry picking and making jams. YUMMY!

2.) Wild foraging. Bring on the Chanterelles!

3.) Treasure hunting with real life treasure hunters! Pirates, eh!

4.) A Pirate Festival!

5.) Itinerary planning!

5.) Hiking!

6.) Our famous Murder Mysteries...

7.) Decadent Victorian Teas

8.) Some of the Finest Dining NL has to offer.

and many more exciting things for you to enjoy! We can't wait to see your Mugs! (faces)
