The Making of an Innkeeper -Shoot the Groundhog!
Well it's February 8th 2017.
It's FREEZING! I'm froze to death! I would like to apologize to all the people who read my last Blog. I did not mean to tempt the God's or to prove Murphy right again. I simply wanted to exude all my positive vibes. If I must retract my statement regarding the early start to spring, I will take back everything that I said. Just please please please thaw the water lines!
As I mentioned in my last post, Newfoundlanders are not used to this kind of bitter cold. Unlike Labrador. Labrador is much like Siberia only closer. I think my sister said it was a -65 there the other day. Most people have 'snow' days where schools are closed based on road conditions and the safety of arriving alive... In Labrador they have 'snow' days based on how quickly the kids will turn into Icicles if outside...
But we are not in Labrador. We are in NL. Last night the temp reached -12. Cold enough to freeze the waterlines ( well just one sink) Not for long but enough to drop a spanner in the mud. It's -5 now and the crows are bawlin' at the gulls over the urchin dropped on the driveway. I still have great faith that spring is on it's way but as a promise to the universe, I promise to be miserable and grouchy until at least the beginning of April.
So please if you really want to see an early spring and you happen to call or email and I am just to darn happy or pleasant, please remind me of the promise I made to the universe!
Well that's it for today. I have to go and and brave the enormous crowds (pop.3000) to shop for wine and strawberries for Valentine guests! Please stay warm. and come back soon!
